Recipe of the Week, All-Day Meatloaf & Vegetables

Hi to all you Cheap Chicks that are tired of SNOW!
I do not get home until 6pm most nights, with the weather we have been having lately - it has been close to 7pm! I must have meals for weekdays that I can go from pot to table in 15 minutes or less! This is a good one for that.

Recipe of the Week

Sending out a big thank you to Jen's mom, aka One Cheap Chick's Mom, who provided us with all of those delicious recipes in 09! I know I have really enjoyed them and I'm sure you have too.

Unfortunately, in all of the holiday hustle and bustle, I overlooked two yummy sounding recipes that she had sent to be posted for holiday parties. Now I'm sending her a big apology.

Luckily they weren't egg nog recipes!! These tempting appetizers are good all year round.

Now, a note from One Cheap Chick's Mom:

I am hostessing my family Christmas Party this year and instead of a "Gut-Busting" full meal I decided we would just make a meal on appetizers - my favorite part of any meal! Here are a couple of my favorites!

Happy Holidays to All! Happy Couponing and Saving!

Hi to all the Cheap Chicks!

Since we are all "Dreaming of Turkeys" - I thought I would give you a good soup recipe to use on Black Friday when you are out getting all the good deals. After a "day of eating" on Thursday - Friday, soup will sound good!

"Superb Chicken Dinner"

The name of this recipe is "Superb Chicken Dinner" and it really is!

For dinner last week I fixed this. At Meijer they had Meijer brand mashed potatoes for $1.99. I bought the chicken breast for $3.00 at our local IGA. Meijer also had their boxed stuffing for $.92. I then microwaved some veggies (that I bought for $.99). Total cost of this delicious meal (including soup) $8.00. There are 3 of us so I have enough leftovers for 3 take-to-work lunches!

Recipe of the Week , Sept. 2nd, 2009

Can everyone believe it??- there are Halloween decorations out in the stores! Soon we will be making chili and soups for those cool Fall days! I am busy freezing and canning from my garden and that is why I use the slow-cooker a lot so I can fix my meal in the morning and then can and freeze all day and my meal is done by the time I am!

Two Delicious Summer Harvest Recipes

Whew! Summer is such a busy time of year! Between the garden and summer fun, don't know how you young Moms do it....if I had young ones around 24/7 don't know when I would have time for anything else.
My zucchini was VERY late this year. I am just now getting an abundance of zucchinis. I am giving you a couple of my favorite recipes for this very CHEAP veggie!

Also, here is the BEST recipe I have for Zucchini Bread - there are a million out there but this one is simple and good!

Happy Summer to all you "Cheap Chicks!"

Oh My Gosh! This is my favorite time of year! So easy to lose weight because veggies are in abundance. I am not a vegetarian but I could be this time of year! Visit your local Farmer's Markets and get your fresh veggies if you are not lucky enough to have a garden as I do. (I really did not consider myself too lucky after I had to weed the other night after all those nice rains we had! The garden was FULL of my friends the weeds!

Recipe of the Week, May 6th

Recipe of the Week, May 6th
Thought I would mix things up this week! For those of you (and I) that are trying to save money on your food budget - buy a package of the ham chunks in any supermarket. They are usually pretty cheap! Here is a breakfast and dinner recipe to make with them. I would make them on separate days but that is just me. Having ham two meals in a row would go against what I have been taught as a cook! (click and print)
